Pengertian Simple Present Tense
Simple Present Tense adalah tense yang paling sering digunakan dalam Bahasa Inggris. Tense ini digunakan ketika membahas fact (fakta), habit (keseharian), imperative (kata perintah).
Contoh:
1. We have eyes to see. (fact)
2. She always goes to school by bus every day. (habit)
3. Don’t go out! (imperative)
Cara membuat kalimat dengan Simple Present Tense
Nah, gimana sih cara membuat kalimat dengan Simple Present Tense? Yuk, cek dibawah.
Kalimat Positif
S (I, you, we, they) + V1
S (he, she, it) + V1 + -es/s
Jadi, kita harus cek dulu yaa, penggunaan kata kerja nya akan tergantung dengan subjeknya.
Contoh:
I always wash my clothes every day.
She makes a cake for her mom’s birthday.
Kalimat Negatif
S (I, you, we, they) + don't + V1
S (he, she, it) + doesn't + V1
Untuk kalimat negatif, kata kerja bantu does/do digunakan. Jangan lupa, untuk subject he/she/it verb yang sebelumnya ditambahkan -es/s kembali menjadi verb 1.
Contoh:
I don’t wash my clothes every day.
She doesn’t make a cake for her mom’s birthday.
Kalimat Negatif
Do + S (I, you, we, they) + V1
Does + S (he, she, it) + V1
Contoh:
Do you wash your clothes every day? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
Does she make a cake for her mom’s birthday? Yes, she does. / No, she doesn’t
Kalimat Nominal
Kalimat Nominal berarti kalimat yang tidak memiliki kata kerja didalamnya, sehingga diberikan “to be” sebagai kata kerja bantu.
“To be” yang diberikan juga akan tergantung dengan subjectnya.
I – am
You, they, we – are
he, she, it – is
Misalnya:
+) I am at school today.
-) She is not happy.
?) Are you sad? No, I am not. / Yes, I am.
Common Mistake dalam Simple Present Tense
Kesalahan yang sering terjadi dalam Simple Present Tense adalah:
1. Penggunaan to be sebelum kata kerja.
I’m understand. ❌
I understand. ✅
2. Penggunaan V-ing.
I playing badminton every day. ❌
I play badminton every day. ✅
