Tips on answering Job Interview Questions

Sekarang banyak banget ya perusahaan yang interviewnya dengan bahasa inggris, dan gimana ya jawab pertanyaan kaya gini?

“Tell me about yourself!”

“Why should we hire you?”

1. 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟!

Ini adalah yang selalu ditanyakan oleh interviewer. Banyak yang menjelaskan dengan lingkup yang terlalu luas. Seperti menjelaskan keluarga, atau saudara, dll. Fokuskan hanya pada lingkup profesi dan pengalamanmu saja.

Yang harus dilakukan:

First, Tell them who you are. Beri tahu data diri kamu secara singkat, lulusan mana atau sedang bekerja dimana sebagai apa. Then, Give some highlights of achievements & Experience that are relevant to the current position you are interviewing for.

Contoh:

“I’ve been working in biomedical research for about 5 years. I completed my PhD four years ago and I worked for a small biotech company, where I’ve learned a lot from. I’m currently looking for a new position in biotech or anything related to my experience.”

2. “𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.”

Biasanya ini ditanyakan kalau kamu belum memberi tahu pengalaman kamu ketika introduction atau dirasa kurang detail dalam menjelaskan pengalamannya.

Bagaimana siasat menjawabnya?

Make sure that you give some detail about your experience. yang tentu saja harus relevan ya dengan posisi yang kamu apply.

Contoh:

“I’ve been working for 3 years at B Bank. My years of experience have prepared me well for this position. You mentioned that customer service is a big part of this job; I spent three years working in a high-volume call centre and identifying solutions.”

3. “𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?”

Jangan jawab pertanyaaan diatas dengan jawaban receh seperti : suka gajinya, suka titelnya, gaada lagi kerjaan lain, perusahaannya bagus.

Yang harus dilakukan:

Be honest, but also do your research. Maksudnya adalah kalian bisa jujur dengan pendapat kalian sndiri, misalnya seperti kalian bilang kalau salah satu mimpi kalian adalah bekerja di salah satu peerusahaan staart up terbesar.

Try to see what the company is focused on and incorporate some of that into your answer. This will show the interviewer you have done your research.

Let’s see the example: “Your brand is very strong and I admire the culture you’ve developed. Your employees have built a great reputation by posting informative and actionable pieces on LinkedIn. I’d be thrilled to work with a group of experts who share their knowledge selflessly and I’m sure it would be of immense help when it comes to fine-tuning my own skills.”

Dari jawaban tersebut kita bisa lihat kalau si pelamar melakukan riset, juga bisa dilihat ketertarikan dia untuk bergabung dengan perusahaan tersebut.

4. “𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮?”

When the interviewer asks you this question make sure you give your own experiences or unique abilities (job skills, experiences, strength to differentiate yourself). Kamu juga bisa menekankan kalo kamu tu kandidat yang paling cocok.

Contoh:

“When I read the job posting, I noticed that you mentioned you were looking for someone with an intermediate level of supervisory experience at a restaurant. My resume may have told you that I have five years of restaurant management work history. However, what my resume does not include are the various other roles in a restaurant that I’ve become familiar with. I’ve gained knowledge of each and every important aspect of running a busy restaurant. I believe that I am a great fit for this company.

5.”𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬?”

Jadi yang ditanyakan adalah kelebihan dan kekurangan kamu. Juga kemampuan kamu untuk menilai dirimu sendiri.

Tips untuk pertanyaan strengths:

Sediakan jawaban yg pas dan tepat sasaran, kalo km orang yang pintar memecahkan masalah, jangan cuma bilang “I am a great problem solver” aja. sediakan beberapa contoh, bukti kalo km merupakan pemecah masalah yg baik.

Contoh:

“I have a solid work ethic. When I’m working on a project, I don’t just want to meet deadlines but to complete the project well ahead of schedule. Last year, I even earned a bonus for completing my three most recent reports one week ahead of time.”

Kalo kalian bingung dengan apa ya kekuatan kalian, terkadang ketika melihat job vacancy ada beberapa list softskills yang dihighlight. Kalian bisa pilih satu skill yang paling cocok dengan kalian dan beri contoh spesifiknya!

Tips untuk pertanyaan weakness:

Pilih kekurangan yg tdk menghambat kamu di pekerjaan yang kamu apply. Jgn misal di job desc nya mencari yang bisa bahasa inggris, tapi kalian bilang kalau kekurangan kalian di bahasa inggris. Atau jadi marketing tapi kekurangan di public speaking.

Don’t forget to give an example of how you try to overcome your weakness.

Contoh:

“My greatest weakness is time management. I have always been very detail-oriented, so, it takes me longer to finish a project. That’s why I started using time-tracking software. It made me more conscious of the time and helped me to check the deadline again.”
